Technical Animator

As the Technical Animator for our next “To Be Announced PC & Console” and for SESSION: Skate Sim, you are responsible for developing the Technical Animation pipeline that will become the spearhead of our animation production.

Your role will be to support the animation team in bringing characters to life while ensuring the quality and implementation of the content in the game engine (Unreal Engine). You will put your technical animation skills and knowledge to the test.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, test and maintain animations systems in collaboration with animators, gameplay programmers and other team members;
  • Assist the design, integration and validation of animation assets;
  • Participate in the conceptualization of the behaviour and abilities of the game characters;
  • Work with the animation team to define, create and maintain the animation pipeline;
  • Provide technical support on the animation tools and engine to the animation team;
  • Ability to use the engine debug tools to solve gameplay problems and work with designers and programmers to find ideal solutions;
  • Train animators in workflow, tools and anything else surrounding implementation of animation assets into the game-engine.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in Key frame animation;
  • Thorough knowledge of at least one programming or scripting language;
  • Thorough knowledge of at least one DCC (3DSMax, Maya, Motion Builder, etc.);
  • A good understanding of anatomy;
  • A fundamental understanding of animation;
  • Can ‘Rig’ complex character and/or object;
  • Experience with ‘retargeting animation’;
  • Good communication skills and good ability to clearly document your work;
  • Experience working on video games.

  • Experience with Unreal Engine
  • Experience with auto-rigging tools
  • General interest in procedural animation techniques
  • A deep passion for, and familiarity with, games, their development and history.
